In conjunction to the April Member Showcase Exhibit and the May themed exhibit “Roots,” we’ll be setting up the spring rotation of the Gallery Shop in Old Town Hall. There will be tables set up alongside the exhibit with our shop merchandise.
If you have items in the shop now and you have volunteered during the month of March, your items will be transferred to Old Town Hall. Take-in for new merchandise is Sunday, March 31st from 12:00-3:00. Please let us know if you cannot make that time and we may schedule a later time or another day for take-in.
The merchandise will be part of the gallery shop until June 1st when we move back into the gallery. Then we'll be doing take-in for the summer merchandise.
We believe it’s as important to promote the artists as the merchandise, so we’re placing “bio” cards close to the items so visitors can learn more about the artists and their work. If you do not have a bio on the Salem Arts website, please email your photo and 2-3 paragraphs about yourself, your technique, your memberships, etc. Attached is a sample bio card for Ellen Garvey.
Submission Criteria:
All pieces must be original work by the artist, priced up to $500. We welcome crafts: jewelry, ceramics and glass vessels, pendants, mixed media; textiles: scarves, hats, dresses and other garments, and handmade quilts; medium sized wall art, prints and cards; and miscellaneous like moon calendars, small sculptures and tarot cards. Arts/crafts will be juried on a quality and space-dependent basis.

Printed copies of the form must be submitted with your artwork. Everyone who has work in the shop and the gallery must volunteer at least 3 hours a month. Bring your calendar because you’ll be asked to sign up at the time of submission.
