Dick Paik at the Cloister Gallery

Dick Paik will exhibit pastels and watercolor paintings in the Cloister Gallery at the St. Andrews Church, 135 Lafayette Street in Marblehead, MA.  The work will be on view from July 11 through August 4, 2010.  A show reception will be held on Sunday, July 11 from 11:00 to 12:30 PM.

Most of the paintings in this exhibit depict the changing seasons and the feelings they evoke. The artist is surprised to find that a disproportionate share of them focus on that ungraspable, windy transition from winter to spring; late summer evokes a different type of anticipation.

Dick Paik has exhibited at galleries in Marblehead, Salem, and others in eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maryland.  His work has earned awards on several occasions, including Third Prize in the Pastel Society of New Hampshire 2010 Member Show, Judge’s Prize at a Marblehead Arts Association Member Show, and others.  For the most part self-taught, he has completed coursework in drawing and color theory at the School for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

He is an Artist Member of the Marblehead Arts Association, Salem Arts Association, Marblehead Arts Association and the Pastel Society of New Hampshire.  He lives in Marblehead with his wife, Barbara, and daughter Frances.
