Salem Jazz and Soul - Second Saturday Concert Series

First Afternoon concert Saturday, May 10 from 5 to 7 pm

The first Saturday afternoon Derby Square jazz concerts will begin on May 10, from 5 to 7 pm. This year the Derby Square Saturday afternoon concerts are held in partnership with the Berklee College of Music. The "Berklee Summer Series" will present promising and accomplished students from this world-renowned jazz institution. The May 10th concert will present the music of Latin violinist Juan Chavez and his eight piece band. Chavez is recognized for his knowledge of Afro-Cuban music and has performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center in NYC, Disney's Epcot Center, the San Jose Jazz Festival. These free concerts will lead up to the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival coming Friday -Sunday, Aug. 15 - 17 at the Salem Willows.
