Artist Statement
ARTIST STATEMENT:
My voice is constantly searching for new ways to express itself. Sometimes this voice is expressed through oil painting or sculpture, other times it is expressed through photography or poetry. Typically I feel myself drawn towards the medium that knows best how to express my vision. Each artistic medium reaches out and speaks to a different audience.
Before beginning my work I typically start out with an original concept that evolves over the course of time. Throughout the creative process I rely heavily on my intuition and inner voiced to guide me.
While engineering, medicine and technology, amongst others, are noble pursuits that are necessary to sustain life, art gives us reason to thrive. Some of my creative influences are: Picasso, Van Gogh, Leonard Da Vinci, Donatello, Raffaello, Tiepolo, John William Godward & Beaugureau.
The artist materials I use vary widely and include oil paint, varnish, glass, mirrors, wood, metal, candle wax, copper and epoxy resin. With regard to photography, I am drawn towards the timelessness of black and white images. For oil painting, I enjoy both realism and abstract genres.
I derive great satisfaction from inspiring people through my art and by giving them the opportunity to see life from a new perspective. This is what drives me to continue working with passion and dedication. What impresses me about art is its ability to touch our inner core and move people across all boundaries without regard to race, sex, language, religion or culture.
